Course content will include further chord study\, including the use of various voicing and chord inversions to create colour in the music. Strum patterns will be taught for a number of musical styles\, with an emphasis on understanding the placement of the stresses in the rhythm of the style. Students will learn how to create their own rhythmic patterns for each musical style\, using syncopation and various strumming techniques. DESCRIPTION:Nehiyawak (neh-HEE-oh-wuk) is the Plains Cree word for the Cree people. This is a unique opportunity to join in classes led by Karen Yellowknee. This 6 week course will offer oral\, visual and hands on learning. \nKaren Yellowknee is a Cree language teacher originally from Slave Lake\, Alberta who brings 29 years of dedicated teaching to her role. They will give you computer skills and an understanding of the basic functions along with the usefulness of computers. The course will give you confidence to explore the potential of computing. The three sessions will be adapted to the needs and wishes of the participants. Please bring a Flash Drive (USB) to save your work. \nClass 1: This session will identify and explain the working parts of the computer and how they function together. It will define the various functions within the windows start up screen and how to personalize your screen. We will explore what the mouse does and how it works. We will explore File Management and how to store and recall your files. \nClass 2: This session will review the mouse and file manager. We will navigate the internet and create and save personal favourites. Strategies will be suggested for organizing and managing Website URLs. Youtube will be introduced. \nClass 3: The first two sessions will be reviewed and expanded upon. The main focus of this session will be email. We will set up a gmail account\, send and receive email.
