SUMMARY:Human Library - Archival Literacy
DESCRIPTION:Archival Literacy is presented by St. Albert Arts & Heritage.\nTo understand our history one needs to understand archival principles and access\, as well as an understanding of the nature and use of archival based evidence. This leads us to being able to understand the traditions\, activities\, and history of a group of people from a given culture\, assisting other cultures to be more accepting of diversity\, becoming culturally literate. \nHuman Libraries started in 2003 in Denmark. They provide a safe and welcoming environment in which participants can learn more about individuals in their community by “borrowing” a person. This “Human Book” shares one-on-one time with you to learn about their life\, job\, and more. You can listen. You can ask questions. You can learn. You can open your mind. You can change your beliefs about different people and cultures. \nBook your 15 minute spot with our Literacy expert.

Today\, assumptions are made about the gender of another person based on their appearance or name and aren’t always correct\, but even if it is correct\, it sends a potentially harmful message that people must look a certain way to demonstrate the gender that they are or are\nnot. \nHuman Libraries started in 2003 in Denmark.
