Nehiyawak (neh-HEE-oh-wuk) is the Plains Cree word for the Cree people. This is a unique opportunity to join in classes led by Karen Yellowknee. This 6 week course will offer oral, visual and hands on learning.
Karen Yellowknee is a Cree language teacher originally from Slave Lake, Alberta who brings 29 years of dedicated teaching to her role. She has a Masters in Indigenous Languages. She has Cree linguistic proficiency and is currently serving as a Cree Curriculum Coordinator and a Cree Language Teacher. “My commitment to preserving and promoting the richness of Cree language and culture is reflected in my innovative teaching of various methodologies. With a profound understanding of the Cree language, I believe I am poised to contribute my wealth of knowledge and expertise, ensuring an enjoyable and fun language learning journey for my students.”

Cancellations: St. Albert Further Education reserves the right to cancel any class. Classes cancelled by Further Eduction will be rescheduled or a full refund will be issued.
Withdrawals, Transfers & Refunds: To withdraw from a class for a refund: • More than 7 days notification – full refund • After class begins – no refund or credit. Refunds will not be issued for non-attendance.
